The Pre-K Leadership Year

Montessori Pre-K Program Guide

For Age: Ages 3 – 5 Years

Introduction

Introduction

We welcome children ages 3 to 5 years into a safe, nurturing environment where they are encouraged to become confident, independent, and engaged learners.

During the final years of the Montessori Primary Program, children strengthen their academic skills while continuing to develop independence, leadership, problem-solving abilities, and a love of learning. Through individualized lessons and meaningful experiences, each child is encouraged to grow at a pace that reflects their unique development.

This important stage helps prepare children for a successful transition to kindergarten while fostering confidence that extends far beyond the classroom.

The Primary Curriculum Sequence & Fine Motor Skills

Our classroom features beautiful Montessori materials displayed in a carefully organized sequence that encourages children to build upon previously learned skills.

The Montessori Primary curriculum includes five interconnected areas of learning:

  • Practical Life
  • Sensorial
  • Language
  • Mathematics
  • Cultural Studies, including Science and Geography

As children master each lesson, they are introduced to new challenges that strengthen fine motor skills, concentration, critical thinking, and independence while allowing them to progress at their own pace.

Practical Life, Leadership & Social Justice

As the oldest members of the Montessori classroom, Pre-K students naturally become leaders within their learning community.

Children have opportunities to assist younger classmates, demonstrate classroom routines, care for the learning environment, and contribute to a respectful, collaborative classroom culture. These everyday experiences strengthen responsibility, empathy, patience, communication, and leadership skills.

By helping others, children also reinforce their own understanding and develop confidence in their abilities.

Advanced Language, Cursive & Reading

Language development continues to flourish during the Pre-K years.

Through individualized Montessori lessons, children expand their vocabulary, strengthen phonics skills, develop reading fluency, and grow as confident writers. As they are ready, many students begin writing stories, practicing both print and cursive handwriting, reading increasingly complex books, and expressing their ideas through written language.

Every child progresses at their own pace, with teachers providing guidance and encouragement based on individual readiness.

Advanced Mathematics & Complex Operations

Montessori mathematics continues to build upon the strong foundation established during the earlier years of the Primary Program.

Using hands-on Montessori materials, children deepen their understanding of place value, addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, skip counting, and number patterns. By first exploring mathematical concepts with concrete materials, children develop confidence before moving forward toward more abstract thinking.

This approach encourages logical reasoning, problem-solving, and a genuine understanding of mathematics.

Advanced Sciences, Geography & Creative Arts

Children’s curiosity about the world continues to grow throughout the Pre-K years.

Through geography lessons, puzzle maps, science investigations, cultural studies, and creative projects, children explore continents, countries, animals, plants, the human body, and the natural world.

Artistic expression also remains an important part of the Montessori experience. Through painting, drawing, color exploration, embroidery, and other creative activities, children strengthen fine motor skills while expressing their creativity and imagination.

Preparing Confident Leaders

The final year of the Montessori Primary Program is about more than preparing for kindergarten.

It is a time when children strengthen their independence, develop leadership skills, build lasting friendships, and gain confidence in their ability to learn and solve problems.

At Pinebrook Montessori Kids Enrichment Center, we are proud to help children leave our Pre-K program as curious learners, compassionate classmates, and confident individuals who are excited for the next stage of their educational journey.

We have been thrilled with Pinebrook for our two-year-old daughter who has been attending since she was 1.5 years old. The director and staff are all extremely kind, loving and attentive. You can tell each teacher truly loves children and isn't just there because it's a job. They have a diverse curriculum, including teaching Spanish, physical education, and of course the basics of counting, ABCs, etc. The facility is always incredibly clean. It's also a very large space so it holds a large indoor play area with soft mats, so children have plenty of space to get physical exercise even if the weather outside is bad. They also have an outdoor playground area. I feel my daughter gets plenty of mental and physical stimulation.

My son has been going there for a little close to a year now. The teachers there are amazing. Started with Ms. Nahid and now in toddlers room with Ms. Connie, and Ms. Meena. Every one is wonderful there and make me feel less worried while at work while also teaching my kid new things. My daughter graduated from there but misses all her friends and teachers!!! Big shout out to all the staff there for helping kids learn and grow!!

I can’t say enough wonderful things about Pine Brook Montessori. It truly feels like a second home for my 2yr. Every teacher knows every child by name and takes the time to build a personal connection… which means so much as a parent. You can genuinely feel how much they care about each child’s growth and happiness. The learning environment is phenomenal. They make every class a fun and educational experience — blending lessons into play so naturally that the kids don’t even realize how much they’re learning. My son has grown so much socially, emotionally, and academically in such a short time. They keep parents connected, too, by sharing pictures and videos regularly, which brings so much comfort and joy. The variety of indoor and outdoor activities keeps every day exciting and engaging. The entire staff is outstanding at what they do — passionate, caring, and truly dedicated. I couldn’t recommend Pine Brook Montessori enough for any parent looking for a safe, nurturing, and enriching environment for their child. Also, Ms. Rabeya( along with all the teachers) and Ms. Madhu are very dedicating and a warm place for parents. They go above and beyond to provide the best service a parent can expect and deserve. They are a huge support for the parents and the kids.

FAQ

What is the enrollment process?

Our enrollment process begins by scheduling a tour of our facility. To move forward, families will need to complete an enrollment form and submit both the enrollment fee and security deposit (which is applied to your child’s last month of tuition).

Once those items are received, you will be given a packet of paperwork to complete. Some forms will also need to be filled out by your pediatrician. When all forms are returned, your child will be ready to begin on their anticipated start date.

Do you provide meals and snacks?

At our school, we provide both a morning and an afternoon snack for all children. Families are responsible for providing their child’s lunch each day. If you choose to pack a meal that requires warming, we are happy to heat it up for your child.

What is your withdraw policy?

If you wish to withdraw your child from our school for any reason, we require a one-month written notice.

Does your school have an annual enrollment fee?

Yes, we have a re-enrollment fee that is due every February.
